Part of the appeal of a perfume is not only what’s inside the bottle, but the bottle itself. In our Instagram-fueled world, packaging is everything and I don’t play when it comes to real estate on my vanity.
This is why I immediately fell for Versace’s latest fragrance for women, Dylan Blue. It’s a deep sapphire and gold, and it’s shaped like an elegant Greek amphora. Meanwhile, the iconic Versace Medusa emblem stamps the bottle with luxury.
Now, for the moment of truth: How does it smell? With a blend of granny smith apple (my favorite), blackcurrant, jasmine, white woods, musk, and patchouli, the answer to that is, well, delicious.
At first spritz, it smells sharp, sweet, and fruity. Jasmine, the foundation of all my favorite fragrances, comes through beautifully too. (“I’m obsessed,” my colleague Chloe gushed when I sprayed it in the office, a major co-working faux pas. “That smells incredible. Really, really good. Expensive,” was my boyfriend’s reaction when I spritzed it before he came home).
“This fragrance is created as a tribute to strong, independent women who are aware of their own power,” model Faretta, who is the face of the campaign, told ELLE.com. “Dylan’s floral-fruity and woody composition is conceived to emphasize uniqueness, strength, sensuality and elegance in those who dare to wear it.”
